Why Digital Scrapbooking?

There are lots of reasons to consider digital scrapbooking - either as an addition to or in place of traditional scrapbooking. Cost is a major one. Traditional scrapbooking can be a very expensive proposition. Digital scrapbooking elements are priced much less (including free!), and each element is a one time investment since it can be reused endlessly. No worry about running out of a particular letter in your stickers! No worries about that "just right" color either, since most graphics programs will let you change the color of most of your elements!

Digital photography is becoming much more prevalent today. Since many people save their digital photos on their computers, it is convenient to have their scrapbooking elements on the computer as well. Computer generated scrapbook pages offer tools, elements, and fonts that would be difficult or impossible to achieve with traditional scrapbook methods. If you love the cutting and pasting of traditional scrapbooking, you can print your digital elements and have an endless supply of elements to layer into traditional albums.

Related to cost and ease of use is the undo feature of digital scrapbooking. Mistakes can be undone without the expense and inconvenience of running to the store and repurchasing those ruined elements. Simply undo the mistake in your graphics program. This also frees you up to experiment as much as you want! Let your imagination run wild!

It is easier to share your creations. You can make copies, resize, individualize... all with the same elements. No more rebuilding the page or repurchasing elements. It's easy to replicate entire albums! You can print your digital creations and frame them or put them in traditional albums for display.
